For reading, commenting, supporting, hating and all the rest over the past 2 years I thank you from the bottom of my Nike Air Max 1′s. I’ve decided to take a more personal approach to my writing, so have migrated over to millycundall.com. BMW commissioned seven Shorts to showcase the new Z3 when it dropped a few years back. Each one is shot by a different, well known director and stars a few celebs you may recognise. This one is shot by Tony Scott (Ridley’s son) based on a well known legend about Blues musician Robert Johnson and stars Clive Owen, Gary Oldman and a subtitled James Brown! Enjoy.

Hey peeps, what’s new? It’s that time again for my “picks of the week”. I hope you all had a great week last week, especially on St Patrick’s Day. This week has the potential to be another cracking week. There is a lot to do and a lot more fun to be had. First port of call this week is Cantaloupe restaurant, a restaurant/bar in the heart of Shoreditch with a massive reputation. Whether you’re after an intimate meal, or a sneaky pint, Cantaloupe is definitely worth checking out. Their food menu is seasonal and changes on a monthly basis but rest assured the quality is undeniable.

Only a 5-minute walk from Old St station, Cantaloupe is situated on 35-42 Charlotte Road and is open daily from 10am. Oh and by the way if you are an owner of a “tastecard” you can also get 2 for 1 meals here.

Fancy something slightly different this week? Why don’t you and a few mates check out Godspell? The 40th Anniversary production of Stephen Schwartz’s classic,

“Based on the Gospel according to St. Matthew, and featuring a sparkling score, Godspell boasts a string of well loved songs, including the international hit- Day By Day. As the cast performs the parables of Jesus Christ comes humanly and hearteningly to life.”

The reviews for this production have been exceptional, ticket prices are only £10 and it is running until April 1^st so there is no reason not to go and see it.

Hello all has it been a week since my last picks of the week? My how times flies. There is so much to do again this week and do not forget it is also St Patrick’s day so get your Guinness on.

The best place to get your Guinness on this week is the Marksman pub on Hackney Rd. A minute’s walk from Columbia rd and a stones throw from Shoreditch the marksman is in a prime location. With a homely, welcoming atmosphere the marksman is a great place to unwind after a hard day at work. They also serve a variety of foods and their bread and butter pudding is to die for. The Marksman is open 11am-12am Mon-Sat and 11am – 11pm on Sundays.

Are you a tea drinker? Partial, to a fairy cake or three? Or just like to dress up? Then why don’t you head over to the Alice in Wonderland inspired “Mad Hatters tea party”. Hosted by the Beas of Bloomsbury located on Theobalds Rd WC1. You can go dressed as your favourite character and take advantage of the all you can eat/drink trifles, fruit jellies, cupcakes, marshmallows, mini meringues, tea and champagne. My pick of the week

Bestival comes to Koko, one of the “best festivals” around pardon the pun comes to a venue near you. As festival season is nearly upon us Bestival brings its wacky shenanigans to Camden. Featuring an array of talent this is a event not to miss. Taking place on Saturday 19^th March, tickets can be purchased here.

Welcome to our brand spanking new feature: ‘Dear Doctor’ where the man that is Spin Doctor offers help and advice to those in need. If you have a problem and you can’t solve it, you know what to do!

Dear Spin Doctor,

I find myself in something of a pickle and hope that the advise of another medical professional will help.

A project I have been working on for some time on the effects of detoxification is shortly to see the light of day. It has been 10 years since my last critically acclaimed research was published and there have been constant rumors about when my new work would be ready and I am paranoid about how it might be received.

While I rarely move from my local environment in Compton, Claifornia I have kept myself busy in the intervening years especially in assisting in the careers of colleagues, most notably one from Detroit with particular women issues and another with a slight speech impediment from New York. This is not the first time I have assisted in careers of others that have previously seen me treated with attitude and viewed as some kind of dogg keeper while, despite my medical assistance, another colleague died which left me particularly uneasy.

I do self medicate with strong natural remedies but find these often just make me paranoid and somewhat unmotivated. Please doctor I am turning to your for advise as how to deal with these feelings.

Well Andre, like many of us doctor’s I imagine you are most most productive while in the lab but working all those hours in such a medicated environment can not always be healthy. I would suggest you treat the publication of your new work as the start of your next episode and get away from it all. Break out, get straight outta Compton and feel free to go 1000 miles and runnin’. While many think LA is the place, there is a whole wide world for you out there, so fuck with an Andre day and take some time for yourself. Your dedication to your colleagues is commendable but don’t worry, while your work together is sure to keep their heads ringin’, a little time apart will not mean they forget about Andre but just make them realise that like other collaborative efforts it is a family affair.

As for your self medication it sounds to me like the situation may be getting a little chronic and would like to suggest your own detox.

Bespoke:

Last week was bad. It wasn’t the worst but…

It was just an abundance of annoying situations that came one after the other, so quickly that it would fool anyone even me into thinking that they had more in common then just coincidence.

I had it all last week.

The Job.

My part time job is a joke. The people that work there are all jokes. If some mass fireball engulfed the whole place killing the many I truly dislike, leaving unscaved the ones that are worth my time and I have come to regard as family over the past 4yrs (literally a handful), I’d be happy. The hypocrites and two face bastards that work there turn my stomach.

Friends.

One or two are just acting up. Forgetting what we stand for. I am having to think about who I need to be around, who I need to say goodbye to.

Special someone.

Don’t even get me started.

Profession. It’s ok but the way I suffer heartbreak back-to-back. I get the biggest jobs and, just like that, the said job isn’t happening anymore.

The list goes on…

I do two things when my life gets like this all at once:

1. I remember that my people made it through slavery

2. I treat my life like a bespoke suit. I cut away and tapper and ‘let it out’ in all the right places. I get some new shoes, a new tie.

You get my drift. Just step back and let some of it go. It’s not worth it. To be honest it never was worth it in the first place so why would you or I hold on to that place, person or thing for so long?

Also, your life it’s tailor made by you and you alone. Cut away, take-in take-out, start again. You do not and can not fit into anyone else’s suit but your own..

Darren’s Picks Of The Week

Hello you lovely people, it’s time for my picks of the week again. It has been quite cold of late but do not let that deter you from enjoying your week as there’s an awful lot that you can be doing.

First of all get yourself down to the Alexia Goethe gallery where there is a very interesting exhibition on at the moment by Jacques Villeglé, showing his décollages’. Villeglé is French artist, born in Brittany in 1926. He’s best known for what he calls ‘décollages’, unlike a paper collage he un-sticks layers of fly posters and tears them before mounting them and framing them. He has been making décollages’ for over 50 years.

The Alexia Goethe gallery is exhibiting his larger scale works drawn from the past decade or so. The posters mostly relate to musical events like album releases and concerts. Be sure to check it out. The exhibition runs until the 25^th March the gallery is open weekdays 10am-6pm and weekends 11am-4pm.

Meeting friends for lunch this week? Why don’t you meet them at Goodman’s steak restaurant situated on Maddox Street W1. The food is to die for and they have an amazing set lunch menu where you can get 3 courses for only £19. Goodman’s is open from 12-10.30pm Mon-Sat, closed on Sunday’s and booking is advisable.

My pick of the week:

The Streets at Brixton Academy, Saturday 5^th March 2011.

Mike Skinner returns to play his first gig in London since last years tour. Mike Skinner recently announced his retirement from his alias the Streets so could this be his last ever gig in London but who knows?

James Taylor

Any one else see Carole King and James Taylor performing together on BBC Four last night? Not only was it was incredible from a music point of view but they clearly, after all these years, still have such brilliant chemistry together. Here’s a much younger Taylor still with a full head of hair performing ‘Fire and Rain’ which never ceases to move me and is one of my all time top tunes.

You may have, in fact should’ve if you’re a regular reader, noticed a distinct lack of posting from myself over the past month. I’ve been doing exciting but gruelling tasks such as packing up the flat I’ve lived in for 3 years and moving in with the other half and quitting my day job(s) to follow my digital dream! After deciding it was time to whole heartedly chase what I wanted and that the new year was to be a perfect, un-jaded starting point for this pursuit, I’ve managed to get a new job that’s right up my street and completely the direction I want to head in and I start in a couple of weeks. As I mentioned, I’ve also moved abode, oddly and completely coincidentally back to the street I once lived on years ago. The move is going well (two weeks on I am still packing and unpacking boxes), especially considering the amount of time having been spent rearranging his kicks to make a smidgen of space for my paultry collection. Funnily, in hindsight (detect sarcasm?), my mate’s would always look around my flat and comment that I had a lot of stuff and that moving it one day would be no mean feat. I, on the other hand would always look around my flat and think I lived the simple life and aside from a few pairs of trainers, some clothes, two large shelves of DVDS, a couple crates of Vinyl, a 37″ monster of a TV, Decks a mixer and a stereo, some pots & pans, shoes, handbags and coats, that I really did have very few belongings. Turns out they were right and I’m left unsure as to when I became such a hoarder but what I am certain of is there’s a charity shop in Kentish Town that has done very well out of the enforced cull!

Any way, my simple explanation for the neglect I understand you must’ve been feeling is that due to these momentous upheavals, my lil brain has been fried and all the creativity zapped from it. Without the wonderful Darren and Kevin keeping the home fires burning with their fab posts, this blog would’ve been totally barren, so a big thank you to them. Now the dust has settled, almost, expect to hear my sultry tones on here with oomph and regularity once more!
