Sri McKinnon is a name you’ve heard me mention on here a good few times by now and hopefully you’ve read my interview with her for Not Bad For A Girl! This is all for good reason, she’s an incredibly talented artist and illustrator who seems to have her eyes firmly set on global domination this year! Fresh off the back of her first solo show at the Print House gallery earlier this year, her second exhibition ‘Archipelago’ opens tonight at the Eastpak Gallery on Caranaby Street and runs until Tuesday 13th September 2010. I find it really hard to convey her works in words and suggest you go and experience their magic and wonder in the flesh for yourselves. More information: www.srimckinnon.com

EXCLUSIVE – Not Bad For a Girl
Last Sunday morning, after inhaling a bucketful of coffee, I pottered down to an uber sleek photography studio in East London. ‘What was I doing in a studio on a bank holiday Sunday at 10am?’ you may well ask. Well, I was asked if I’d write a piece for t-shirt brand ‘Not Bad For a Girl’ to accompany their latest release the ‘Re-Edit’. So, I went to observe the shoot and interview the models Goldielocks and Sri McKinnon. It was a really inspiring day, everyone really pulling together to make it all happen and on a Sunday too. Truly refreshing to see talented ladies all happy to leave egos at the door and work together to such a satisfying end result. Pop over here and check out my interview with the ladies, read more about the ‘Re-Edit’ release and, of course, grab yourself one of this summer’s must-have, strictly limited tees! One last thing I’ll say is: look out for the very smart sleeve detailing KJ has crafted and remember who did it first – C’est Genius!

SRI MCKINNON
Here’s a random story for you: I was trying to get into some hip hop night or other at Herbal over the summer and due to a little too much cider I was airing on the blonde side (even more than usual). Having queued up and got to the front, I realised I had no cash on me. Long story short, some city type dude took pity and paid for me to get in but, whilst this blonde moment was occurring, I got talking to the lovely lady running the door. You know the ones where someone says something you really relate to and you can’t help but jump in on their convo? Well, I overheard her chatting about the distinct lack of real, creative women in the London scene, supposed to scenester hanger-on’s and so, of course, I put in my ten cents worth in. Long story short, we got chewing the fat and turns out not only does she run nights and is generally a very cool lady, she’s an incredibly talented artist and illustrator as well!
Sri is having her debut solo exhibition ‘Between Worlds‘ at the Print House Gallery in Dalston from 4th -28th February, so be sure to scoot along and check out this amazing lady’s work. Private view on Thursday is on Thursday 4th. See below for more info!
